Some Audis can show vehicle location through myAudi and Audi connect, but that does not mean every Audi has an always-on GPS “tracker.” These functions depend on the model year, equipment, market and active connected services.
Car Finder is mainly for finding where you parked
On compatible vehicles, the myAudi app can show the car’s parked location and may offer geofencing or other remote functions. Audi specifically warns that the normal Car Finder feature should not be used to recover a stolen vehicle.
A stolen vehicle uses a separate process
For compatible cars and services, Audi offers Stolen Vehicle Locator. In the U.S., the owner first reports the theft to police, then contacts Audi with the police case ID. Audi verifies authorization and works with law enforcement to provide vehicle-location information.
Not every Audi supports the same features
Availability depends on the vehicle’s communications hardware, model year, trim, account setup and service package. A navigation-equipped Audi does not automatically have remote vehicle-location capability.
What to check on a used Audi
Before treating connected tracking as a feature, verify which Audi connect services the exact VIN supports and whether the vehicle can be registered to your myAudi account as Key User.
Audi connect is a suite of connected services. It is not the same thing as a separate aftermarket GPS tracker, which normally uses its own dedicated hardware and service.
